  • 3/31 ~ THE NATIONS ARE COMING TO US ~ The Global Twin Cities and the “Ethnoburb” by John Piper (desiringgod.org)
"There are 200 different languages spoken by people living in the Twin Cities area ... Our church established a new campus two years ago in Burnsville, sixteen miles south of the downtown campus in Minneapolis. Most people probably thought of this as an expansion to the “suburbs.” But John Mayer of City Vision calls Burnsville an “Ethnoburb.” (For more information on how to impact the nations coming to your city click here.)
  • 3/30 ~ MISSION TOOL ~ Missions Priorities in Contemporary Churches by David Mays (davidmays.org)
"Church leaders follow a strategy - that is they exercise priorities. Financial and involvement decisions are made on the basis of some things being more important than others. The strategy may be well thought out and consistent or it may be pragmatic and change frequently. It may be worthwhile to identify and state the priorities that drive decisions and examine their appropriateness."
  • 3/28 ~ BAM ~ 9 Missiological Insights into Business as Mission by Brian Walck (Business as Mission Network)
"My own interest in (BAM) began as I realized during my time at seminary that my previous 23 years in the business world might not be completely wasted experience; that it might in fact be something that could be leveraged for the Kingdom of God. I began to read everything I could get my hands on and to take every opportunity to incorporate BAM related materials into my classes in theology and mission. In my final semester I was allowed to pursue an independent study in Business as Mission which afforded me some concentrated time to dig deeper into the subject. This paper comes out of that study."

"... we are pouring huge amounts of money and effort and people into helping those who have already heard the gospel. We are giving time and energy to help people learn about such good things as inner healing, how to do inductive bible study, good parenting skills, Sunday school, men’s ministries, etc., etc., while over one third of the global family, approximately 3.3 billion people, have never heard the name of Jesus one time in their life, and never will unless someone learns their language, and then braces extreme weather and living conditions to go to them with the good news of Jesus."

    by Ted Esler,
    Executive Vice President of Pioneers-USA
"Michael Spencer is, I am sure, getting lots of traffic to his blog these days over a recent article entitled, “The Coming Evangelical Collapse.” The article appeared on the Christian Science Monitor and got mac-daddy exposure on The Drudgereport ... As I have thought about Spencer’s article I have asked myself, “If this is true, what can we expect to see in the North American missions world?” Here are a few thoughts (remember: the focus is on the North American movement)"
  • 3/21 ~ IN MEMORIAL ~ James Hudson Taylor III With Christ (OMF)
"James Hudson Taylor lll, great-grandson of the founder of the China Inland Mission, will be remembered as a mission statesman who brought a sense of legacy to each role he held. He was a warm man, and a master storyteller; and his love for history enriched his sharp grasp of mission trends. Having been born and raised in China, he imbibed its language, thought forms and literature like the Chinese themselves.
